So I haven’t been blogging regularly, and it’s mainly because working for myself can be a little crazy at times. Working on my laptop all day is surprisingly exhausting, and I find that despite my best intentions, this blog is often the first thing that gets dropped…since, you know I have to feed myself and everything.
I have resolved to blog much more frequently this year though, and I even have a little announcement…dun dun dun….
OneTravelsFar is currently under construction! I know, you can’t tell right now, but I’ve got an awesome designer working on a brand new theme for me, and I’m very excited. The design process has been really fun, and Tony (the designer) has been very patient with my indecisiveness. So far we have the header and the front page sorted, and it’s going to look completely different than it does now.
Which is a good thing, because I haven’t liked this design for a long time.
When I first decided to start a blog about my travels, I kind of just chose a theme and chucked it up. I did no research into SEO (this theme sucks for that), and I wasn’t thinking long-term. And I think half the reason I haven’t been blogging as much is purely just because I’m so over the look of the blog.
So this time I wasn’t going with a pre-made theme, and I wanted one of my very own. I’m not going to give too much away, but the new site will definitely represent my adventurous side, and the colours will be a lot more inline with my personality. I can’t wait for you guys to see it!
Ooh, and if you do think of anything you’d like to see on the new website, just let me know in the comments, or send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org, and I’ll see if I can make it happen.
Other than the theme, I’ve been busy trying to get as much work in as possible. I’m leaving Chiang Mai on the 8th of February to go home to New Zealand, and the time is going waaaay too fast. Once again I’ll be packing up an apartment, throwing out half of my clothes, and saying goodbye to my friends.
I’m definitely looking forward to seeing some friends and family though. And the food! I haven’t been back to NZ for almost two years, and I’ve been craving so much food it’s ridiculous. I’m planning for my first meal to be good ol’ Kiwi fish and chips (with copious amounts of chicken salt), followed by mums apple crumble. I also want Whittaker’s chocolate (sorry guys, but Hershey’s doesn’t even come close), cheese and onion rolls, and chips and Kiwi dip.
I’ve even been craving pies! I never even ate pies when I lived in NZ. It’s crazy. If I don’t watch it I’ll be the size of a house before I leave New Zealand.
I’ve been a little sick this week, and I’m way over working from bed, so I’m looking forward to getting out and about tomorrow. I’m also planning to finally show you guys my “new” apartment here, so you can compare it to my old one from last year.
I also have a ton of blog posts that are halfway finished about my travels in Myanmar. You didn’t think I’d be done after just a couple of posts did you? No way. Up next will either be a post about exploring the Bagan pagodas by electric bike, or my favourite: our hot air balloon ride over Bagan (crazy expensive but totally worth it).
Over the next few weeks I’ll be making sure I keep in touch with friends, eating at my favourite restaurants, and checking off anything I still need to do in Chiang Mai. It doesn’t feel like I’m leaving in less than a month!
